Heasley pitched in 12 games out of the bullpen in 2023 for the Royals and was hit around to the tune of a 7.20 ERA. He has also started big leagues games in the past so he can be a swingman. Expect him to spend most of 2024 in the minors.

For Kansas City, this deal was done to clear a 40-man roster spot to officially sign free agent right-hander Michael Wacha. Espinal was signed as a international free agent in 2022. He pitched at the rookie-league level last season.
