TAYLOR AND HOUSER HEAD TO METS

The New York Mets acquired outfielder Tyrone Taylor and pitcher Adrian Houser from the Milwaukee Brewers for pitcher Coleman Crow.

What does it give the New York Mets
For the Mets, the two players they acquired may not be big names like they have brought in during the past few off-seasons. However, both Houser and Taylor are very serviceable big leaguers. Houser will likely slide into the back end of the Mets rotation, but he has also pitched out of the bullpen before. In Taylor, the Mets are getting a right-handed hitter who could platoon with the left-handed batters the Mets already have.

What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers continue their cost-cutting retool. They dumped more salary in this trade as both Taylor and Houser are arbitration eligible. Coming to Milwaukee is pitching prospect Crow. Unfortunately, the Brewers will have to wait to see him pitch as he is not on track to return from Tommy John surgery until the middle of '24. Once healthy, the Brewers hope the young right-hander can become a rotation option for them in the future.

Fantasy impact
Even in deep leagues, Houser and Taylor may not be quick off the draft boards, but they both could be waiver wire pickups. See what role they play on the Mets and then game plan accordingly. Crow is off the fantasy radar until he returns to full health.
