Just when the Braves seemed to be done making trades...they make another one! Martinez finally got his MLB chance last season at age 27. He has an opportunity to open the season as a backup outfielder, depending on performance and Atlanta's other possible transactions.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
The Rangers moved out Martinez to clear a 40-man roster spot in order to finalize the rumored David Robertson signing. However, Owens is not just a throw-in here. He is known for his fastball-slider combination that could lead him to the big leagues as a reliever one day.
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact with this trade. Martinez' ceiling is as a fourth outfielder, and Owens will more than likely spend all of the 2024 season in the minors.
