WHITE SOX MAKE ANOTHER TRADE
The Chicago White Sox acquired outfielder Dominic Fletcher from the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitcher Cristian Mena.
What does it give the Chicago White Sox
The rebuilding White Sox were lacking depth in their outfield, so the addition of Fletcher addresses that need. The 26-year-old is an impressive contact hitter but his skill set does not include much power or speed. Still, he did hit .301 in 93 at-bats with the Diamondbacks in 2023. Look for him to get plenty of playing time in Chicago this season.
What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
Arizona has loads of outfield depth, so they elected to move Fletcher for a pitching prospect. Mena, 21, had been working as a starter in the White Sox organization since 2019. He has shown good strikeout ability, but has also struggled with control. The potential is there, and he will continue his development in the minors with Arizona.
Fantasy impact
Fletcher should get more playing time in Chicago, but he is not a recommendable fantasy option at this time. Similarly, Mena has yet to make his MLB debut and is not on the fantasy radar.
