MARGOT MOVED TO MINNESOTA

The Minnesota Twins acquired outfielder Manuel Margot, infielder Rayne Doncon and cash from the Los Angeles Dodgers for infielder Noah Miller.

What does it give the Minnesota Twins
The Twins have been looking for a right-handed platoon bat for their predominantly left-hand-hitting outfield. In Margot, they have found a player with plenty of experience in that role. He should get the majority of his at-bats against left-handers and patrol center field from time-to-time to keep Byron Buxton healthy. Doncon played in Single-A ball during the 2023 season. Signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2021, he could receive the playing time vacated by Miller in the minors. The cash will help offset Margot's salary.

What does it give the Los Angeles Dodgers
Miller was the No. 36 overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft. He has advanced as far as High-A ball, so he has a long development path in front of him. The switch-hitter is known more for his defense and speed than his hitting at this point in his career. However, the Dodgers always seem to get the best out of their prospects. Gavin Lux was also a light-hitting infielder in the minors once upon a time. The Dodgers immediately re-signed fan favorite Enrique Hernandez after the trade, so he should take Margot's spot on the roster.

Fantasy impact
Margot has limited fantasy value as a likely platoon player. When the Twins play a gauntlet of left-handed pitchers, Margot may be a waiver-wire pickup, but do not rush to draft him. Miller will not be on the fantasy radar this upcoming season, but he has draft pick pedigree and could become an option in future years. Doncon can also be ignored for now.
