YANKEES BRING IN BRUBAKER
The New York Yankees acquired pitcher JT Brubaker and international signing bonus money from the Pittsburgh Pirates for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
What does it give the New York Yankees
Brubaker opened the season on the 60-day injured list, as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery. Once healthy, he could be an option for the back of the rotation (or pitch out of the bullpen) for a Yankees squad with injury concerns around their pitching staff.
What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
Due to injuries, the Pirates had not seen much of Brubaker on the mound recently. During that stretch, they begun turning their rotation over to their young pitching prospects in the system. So, there likely was no room for Brubaker. By moving him now, it saves the Pirates money.
Fantasy impact
Brubaker is on the 60-day injured list so no need to put any emphasis on adding him to a fantasy roster in any format. That said, keep an eye on his rehabilitation. He might become an option for fantasy leaguers later this season.
