The Boston Red Sox acquired pitcher Vladimir Gutierrez from the Milwaukee Brewers for cash.
What does it give the Boston Red Sox
Gutierrez is on the move again, joining his third organization early in 2024. The 28-year-old struggled in his lone MLB appearance this season, and he has not been a regular starter since 2021. Still, Gutierrez provides depth to the Red Sox. He will start out in Triple-A ball.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
Gutierrez had been serving as organizational depth for the Brewers after they claimed him off waivers from the Marlins earlier in the month. He did not have much of a future in Milwaukee, having recently been designated for assignment, so the Brewers got cash in return for him.
Fantasy impact
This trade has no fantasy impact. Gutierrez will likely remain in the minors, and he is not a fantasy-relevant pitcher when facing MLB hitters.
