What does it give the San Francisco Giants
White provides the Giants with pitching depth, as injuries have mounted early in the season. The 29-year-old has struggled mightily the past few seasons, so he is not a great addition for San Francisco. Still, he could be an option to make a spot start or serve as a reliever in low-leverage situations. Perhaps the change of scenery will do him well.
What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
White never established himself with the Blue Jays following a trade from the Dodgers in 2022. After another subpar start to the 2024 season (5.40 ERA in 10 innings, with only 6 strikeouts), White found himself designated for assignment. It is a disappointing outcome for the once-promising pitcher, but Toronto will move forward with cash instead.
