GROSSMAN GOES BACK TO TEXAS
The Texas Rangers acquired outfielder Robbie Grossman from the Chicago White Sox for pitcher Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
Grossman returns to Texas after helping them win the World Series last season. A switch-hitter known for his hitting ability against southpaws, he will provide some depth to the Rangers while Wyatt Langford is on the injured list. Expect him to be a platoon bat against left-handers.
What does it give the Chicago White Sox
Hoopii-Tuionetoa projects as a reliever at the MLB level. He has been dominant at Double-A ball this season posting 12.1 shutout innings with a 34 percent strikeout rate. On a weak White Sox team, he could get a chance in MLB later this year if he continues his dominance.
Fantasy impact
Grossman could be a streaming option if the Rangers are facing a plethora of left-handers, but his effectiveness is likely to peak there. As for Hoopii-Tuionetoa, he should not be on any fantasy radar until he has a track record in the big leagues.
