ATLANTA ADDS ZACK SHORT
The Atlanta Braves acquired infielder Zack Short from the Boston Red Sox for cash.
What does it give the Atlanta Braves
In Short, the Braves pick up a new utility infielder. Luis Guillorme had been filling that role, but they traded him away in a separate deal. Despite Short's struggles this season (1 hit in 16 at-bats with 8 strikeouts), he is a slight upgrade in terms of power, speed and defense.
What does it give the Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox had designated Short for assignment before this trade, just days after acquiring him and starting him in two straight games. However, he was likely never going to play a big role in Boston, and they were able to get some cash back in return for his services.
Fantasy impact
This trade has no fantasy impact. Short has limited upside on offense, and he is unlikely to see many at-bats with the Braves.
