CLEVELAND GETS McCAUGHAN FROM MIAMI
The Cleveland Guardians acquired pitcher Darren McCaughan from the Miami Marlins for cash.
What does it give the Cleveland Guardians
McCaughan will provide Cleveland's organization with pitching depth. The right-hander can work as either a starter or reliever, but he has never had much success in Triple-A ball–let alone the major leagues. He was optioned to Triple-A Columbus following the trade.
What does it give the Miami Marlins
McCaughan opened the season in the minors with the Marlins, and allowed eight earned runs in only 4.2 innings in his lone MLB appearance. He had not managed much better at Triple-A ball, but Miami at least received cash in return after designating him for assignment.
