MARLINS ADD RELIEVER FROM THE RANGERS

The Miami Marlins acquired pitcher Shaun Anderson from the Texas Rangers for cash.

What does it give the Miami Marlins
Anderson provides the Marlins with pitching depth. The 29-year-old right-hander can work as a starter or reliever and has 139 innings of MLB experience. That said, he has never been particularly effective (5.83 ERA, 1.65 WHIP for his career). Anderson will join Miami's Triple-A affiliate but could cover some big league innings as the season goes on. He has little upside.

What does it give the Texas Rangers
After starting the year strongly in the minors, Anderson earned a call-up and made two appearances with the Rangers. He did not impress, allowing two runs in 3.1 innings. Texas designated him for assignment shortly thereafter. Anderson was only a depth pitcher for the Rangers, so they will move forward with cash from Miami. This deal should not affect the Rangers much (if at all).

Fantasy impact
This trade has no fantasy impact. Anderson will be pitching in the minors for now and should not be considered in fantasy leagues if he rejoins the MLB roster.
