RANGERS SEND RODRIGUEZ NORTH
The Toronto Blue Jays acquired pitcher Yerry Rodríguez from the Texas Rangers for pitcher Josh Mollerus.
What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
Rodriguez has had a tough season so far in both MLB and in triple-A ball. He has an ERA over 6.00 in both leagues, which does not lead to a lot of confidence in his ability to get outs. But with how bad the Toronto bullpen has struggled, do not be surprised if they give him a chance to turn his season around.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
Mollerus was drafted last season and started his minor-league career in high single-A ball this year. The Rangers will not know his full potential for a few years. That said, they were clearly ready to move on from the struggling Rodriguez. Therefore, they likely took the best deal they could get for his services.
