JAZZ CHISHOLM JR. JOINS THE YANKEES!

The New York Yankees acquired infielder/outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. from the Miami Marlins for catcher Agustin Ramirez, and infielders Jared Serna and Abrahan Ramirez.

What does it give the New York Yankees
Chisholm, the former all-star, adds a different dynamic to the Yankees lineup. His speed/power combo could fit perfectly hitting in front of the Yankees' sluggers. The big question is where he fits defensively. He is a converted infielder who has spent the last couple of season playing center field. The problem is that the Yankees' outfield seems set, and Gleyber Torres is at second base. If they can find a spot for Chisholm that works for everyone, he should provide a major jolt to the Yankees' push for a division title.

What does it give the Miami Marlins
The Marlins are rebuilding yet again, and Chisholm was their best trade chip (netting them three prospects). Ag. Ramirez is an offensive catcher. He has hit .269 with 20 HRs and 69 RBI in 87 games so far in 2024. He may not stick behind the plate, but his bat should lead him to the majors. Serna can play three infield positions. He has hit .253 with 13 HRs, 58 RBI and 11 steals at high Single-A ball. Ab. Ramirez is only 19. This is his first season playing in the USA. Only time will tell if Miami got enough for a 26-year-old just entering his prime.

Fantasy impact
Chisholm's value should skyrocket now that he is with the Yankees. He should get plenty of pitches to hit if he bats in front of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto. Being left-handed is an added bonus with half his games being played at Yankee Stadium, where the short porch in right field is infamous for boosting left-handed-hitter production. Ag. Ramirez is the prospect closest to MLB that the Marlins received. His bat will one day soon be worth having on a fantasy roster. The only questions are when and how well his bat translates. Serna and Ab. Ramirez can be safely left alone for the time being.
