PIRATES ADD ANOTHER LEFT-HANDER
The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired pitcher Josh Walker from the New York Mets for pitcher Nicolas Carreno.
What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
After adding Jalen Beeks to the bullpen last night, the Pirates get some more left-handed bullpen help in Josh Walker. He has shuffled between Triple-A ball and MLB with the Mets this season, pitching to mixed results. With Aroldis Chapman and Beeks already in the bullpen, Walker will add depth in Triple-A.
What does it give the New York Mets
The Mets designated Walker for assignment after acquiring Ryne Stanek. Moving him gives Walker a new opportunity and nets the Mets a young prospect. Carreno is only 18 years old. At 5'10", 155 pounds, he is undersized and will have to grow physically to improve his game. He is a long shot at this point.
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact with this trade, as Walker is organizational depth and Carreno is very far away from MLB.
