KANSAS CITY TRADES FOR DeJONG

The Kansas City Royals acquired infielder Paul DeJong from the Chicago White Sox for pitcher Jarold Rosado.

What does it give the Kansas City Royals
In DeJong, the Royals add a veteran depth option to their infield. The 30-year-old is still a decent defender at shortstop and third base. He always strikes out a ton but can hit for power (18 HR in 337 AB this season). DeJong will likely see far less playing time in Kansas City, but he is a versatile pickup for their playoff push.

What does it give the Chicago White Sox
DeJong is a replaceable player at this point in his career, so he did not net much for the White Sox. They will take a chance on Rosado, a 22-year-old relief pitcher from the Dominican Republic. He has been pitching well in low Single-A ball and will look to continue that momentum in Chicago's organization.

Fantasy impact
In fantasy leagues, DeJong's only value comes from his home-run power. However, with the Royals he will very likely fill a bench role and should not be rostered at this time. Ditto Rosado.
