METS CONTINUE TO ADD PITCHING
The New York Mets acquired pitcher Tyler Zuber from the Tampa Bay Rays for pitcher Paul Gervase.
What does it give the New York Mets
Zuber will provide the Mets with additional bullpen depth for their playoff push. The right-hander has worked mostly in the minors since the 2021 season, but he impressed the Rays enough to earn a call-up this year. New York may choose to option him to Triple-A for extra depth, or give him a look in MLB right away.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
Once again, the Rays focus on getting a younger player in a trade. Gervase, a 2022 draft pick of the Mets, has yet to make his MLB debut. Like Zuber, he is also a right-handed reliever and has pitched effectively in Double-A ball this season. At 24 years old, Tampa Bay must think he still has some potential.
