DYLAN FLORO TO THE DIAMONDBACKS
The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired pitcher Dylan Floro from the Washington Nationals for infielder Andres Chaparro.
What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
Floro gives Arizona's bullpen another quality relief option. The veteran right-hander is having a bounce-back season, working to a 2.06 ERA in 52.1 innings with a 1.05 WHIP. With pitchers like Paul Sewald, A.J. Puk, Kevin Ginkel and Ryan Thompson already performing well for the Diamondbacks, Floro may not slot into a high-leverage role. But he is a valuable addition.
What does it give the Washington Nationals
Chaparro is a 25-year-old infielder who is no longer considered much of a prospect. That said, he has a lot of power and is crushing it in Triple-A this year, hitting .332 with 19 homers and 75 RBI in 95 games. He could get a look with the Nationals this season, but they will need to make a decision on him as he will become a minor-league free agent at the end of the year.
Fantasy impact
Floro's value takes a hit in fantasy leagues, as he may start out pitching behind Arizona's usual high-leverage relievers. Still, he has been great this season and could work his way into the late-inning mix in no time. Keep an eye on Chaparro in D.C.
