NICK ALLEN HEADS TO ATLANTA
The Atlanta Braves acquired infielder Nick Allen from the Oakland Athletics for pitcher Jared Johnson.
What does it give the Atlanta Braves
Allen provides the Braves with infield depth heading into the 2025 season. Known more for his defense, he has slashed just .209/.254/.283 in parts of three MLB seasons. Allen should compete for a bench role in Atlanta, where he could be useful as a defensive replacement and pinch runner.
What does it give the Oakland Athletics
Allen struggled against MLB pitching during his time with the A's, so they will give other infielders a look this season. Meanwhile, Johnson is a reliever drafted in 2019. He pitched well in high Single-A ball last season. He is a long shot to make it to MLB but is still just 23 years old. He will continue to develop with the A's.
