SINGER SENT TO CINCINNATI
The Cincinnati Reds acquired pitcher Brady Singer from the Kansas City Royals for second baseman Jonathan India and outfielder Joey Wiemer.
What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
In Singer, the Reds land a quality starting pitcher who should help them greatly in 2025. Cincinnati's rotation was ravaged by injuries this past season, so Singer should be welcomed with open arms. The price was high, as India was the Reds' starting second baseman. Santiago Espinal might take over at the keystone, though the Reds may also not be done dealing.
What does it give the Kansas City Royals
India should be an upgrade over Michael Massey at second base for Kansas City in 2025, although India has also spent time as a designated hitter in Cincinnati. Wiemer is a toolsy outfielder with very good defensive range, so he stands a good chance to win a job out of spring training (likely as a backup center-fielder). This trade checks a lot of boxes for both teams.
Fantasy impact
India might not slug as well in Kansas City, since the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati is a hitter's haven. That said, his overall fantasy value should remain fairly strong. Singer's move to Cincinnati might have the reverse effect, but he should continue to receive enough run support to win games. Wiemer's value remains low despite the trade to Kansas City.
