DAVIS DANIEL DEALT TO ATLANTA

The Atlanta Braves acquired pitcher Davis Daniel from the Los Angeles Angels for pitcher Mitch Farris.

What does it give the Atlanta Braves
By trading for Daniel, the Braves add to their starting pitching depth. The 27-year-old right-hander has made just nine MLB appearances so far, managing a 5.06 ERA in 42.2 IP. In those games, he was quite hittable and that has also been the case in the minor leagues. But Daniel's strikeout/walk ratio is promising, so Atlanta must see some potential here. Daniel will likely begin the season as depth at Triple-A Gwinnett.

What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
The Angels upgraded their pitching staff in free agency this off-season, which moved Daniel down the depth chart. They designated him for assignment and were able to bring in a younger arm in return. Farris is a 23-year-old left-hander who was drafted by the Braves in 2023. He is not a top prospect, but he found success at high Single-A ball in 2024. The Angels will continue developing Farris in their organization.

Fantasy impact
Daniel has yet to establish himself as an MLB pitcher, so he is not on the fantasy radar for now. See if he can turn it around with the Braves, as he does have some strikeout upside as a starting pitcher. Farris is not on the fantasy radar for the time being.
