GRANT ANDERSON GOES TO MILWAUKEE
The Milwaukee Brewers acquired pitcher Grant Anderson from the Texas Rangers for pitcher Mason Molina.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
Anderson will add to the Brewers' bullpen depth heading into the 2025 season. The 27-year-old right-hander has yet to find consistency in his first two MLB seasons (6.35 ERA in 62.1 IP), but he has pitched effectively in the minors. He also has good strikeout ability, so Milwaukee must think he still has potential. Anderson will compete for a role in the bullpen this spring.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
The Rangers designated Anderson for assignment before this trade, so they did well to get a prospect in return for him. Molina, 21 years of age, was just selected by the Brewers in the seventh round of the 2024 draft. He is not a highly ranked prospect, but as a left-handed starter he will add some versatility to the organization's pitching depth.
Fantasy impact
Anderson is still unlikely to pitch in high-leverage situations with the Brewers, which keeps him off the fantasy radar for now. As for Molina, he is just beginning his career, so he is a ways away from consideration in fantasy leagues.
