OWEN WHITE TRADED TO THE REDS
The Cincinnati Reds acquired pitcher Owen White from the Texas Rangers for cash.
What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
White gives the Reds additional pitching depth heading into the 2025 season. The 25-year-old right-hander has appeared in only five MLB games so far, surrendering 13 runs in just seven innings pitched. Still, he can work as a starter or reliever, so he brings some useful versatility. White will likely begin the season in the minors, but a strong showing could earn him another look in MLB soon.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
The Rangers designated White for assignment during this off-season, after a few poor MLB outings and mediocre results in the minor leagues. They only got cash back in return, which they may be able to use in order to improve their roster. It is a somewhat disappointing conclusion, after Texas drafted White in 2018 and developed him for a number of years.
Fantasy impact
White is still trying to prove he can be an MLB pitcher, so his move to Cincinnati will not impact fantasy baseball.
