What does it give the Boston Red Sox
Sabol adds to Boston's catching depth for 2025. The 27-year-old hit a respectable 13 home runs in 2023, his rookie season, but spent most of last year in the minors. He also has speed and can play multiple positions, making him a versatile addition.
What does it give the San Francisco Giants
The Giants have a good amount of catching depth and did not appear to be considering Sabol for their 2025 roster. They designated him for assignment shortly before this trade and added money for international free agents instead.
Fantasy impact
Sabol could become a useful player for the Red Sox, but he is unlikely to see enough playing time to be a factor in fantasy leagues. So this trade will not have a fantasy impact.
