ANDERSON TO MOTOWN

The Detroit Tigers acquired outfielder Josh Anderson from the Atlanta Braves for pitcher Rudy Darrow.

What does it give the Detroit Tigers
The Tigers will use Anderson as a fourth outfielder in all likelihood, since they have Curtis Granderson as their center-fielder and Carlos Guillen to play left field. He'll provide some speed off the bench, but otherwise his playing time should take a hit after this deal.

What does it give the Atlanta Braves
The Braves' center-field battle will now come down to Jordan Schafer versus Gregor Blanco, as Anderson failed to impress in the spring. Schafer's emergence led to Anderson's ultimate demise, so the club moved him for Darrow--who will require more development time down on the farm.
