FRANCOEUR FOR CHURCH

The New York Mets acquired outfielder Jeff Francoeur from the Atlanta Braves for outfielder Ryan Church.

What does it give the New York Mets
The Mets are fairly desperate for power and offence in general right now, so they're taking a flyer on Francoeur's untapped hitting potential. He's a great outfielder, but so is Church, so this move is about adding a bigger power bat.

What does it give the Atlanta Braves
It's rare that division rivals flip-flop position players, but that's exactly what happened here. Church is a more versatile outfielder, but this move opens the door for right-field prospect Jason Heyward to move to the big leagues by the end of the season.
