NAPOLI ON THE MOVE AGAIN

The Texas Rangers acquired first baseman/catcher Mike Napoli from the Toronto Blue Jays for pitcher Frank Francisco.

What does it give the Texas Rangers
Napoli could be a significant offensive upgrade for the Rangers if he plays most of the time at catcher in 2011--especially in terms of home-run power. He might also see some time at first base against lefties. The Rangers have enough quality bullpen arms to compensate for the loss of Francisco.

What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
Clearly, the Jays had no intention of keeping Napoli...recently acquired as part of the Vernon Wells deal with the Angels. Since they sent some money to Anaheim in that deal, they received some in return for Napoli. This means rookie J.P. Arencibia is once again the frontrunner to catch for Toronto in 2011. Francisco will be a setup man.
