SPIVEY SWAPPED FOR OHKA

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired pitcher Tomo Ohka from the Washington Nationals for second baseman Junior Spivey.

What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
Ohka recently got into the Nationals' doghouse for turning his back on manager Frank Robinson while being removed from a start. Regardless, the Brewers landed themselves a solid starter who was off to a good start, even if his walks-strikeouts ratio was way out of whack. He'll take the fifth starting job Wes Obermueller was failing to hold down. The move also means top prospect Rickie Weeks, a second baseman, is on the verge of a promotion.

What does it give the Washington Nationals
With Jose Vidro on the disabled list and backup Jamey Carroll also hurt, Spivey can take over at second base. With his mediocre power and propensity to strike out, he's really not a long-term solution and he's not expected to be. When Vidro returns in a month or so Spivey will head to the bench.
