DIAMONDBACKS ADD MARQUIS
The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired pitcher Jason Marquis from the Washington Nationals for shortstop Zach Walters.
What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
The D'backs were looking for another arm, so adding veteran Marquis makes a little sense. He brings savvy and leadership to the mound, which helps a young Arizona rotation. He's not a great acquisition, but he's a pretty good fit with the D'backs.
What does it give the Washington Nationals
Walters is a switch-hitter with a lot of upside with the bat, as well as some base-stealing speed. He'll need a lot more development time, since he's only in low-A ball right now, but he is very projectable. The Nats are not happy with current SS Ian Desmond.
