MARLINS, 'STROS SWAP MINOR LEAGUERS

The Miami Marlins acquired outfielder Justin Ruggiano from the Houston Astros for catcher Jobduan Morales.

What does it give the Miami Marlins
Miami needs some outfield depth due to injuries to regulars {P Emilio Bonifacio} and {P Austin Kearns}, and the recently-send-down {P Kevin Mattison} wasn't cutting it for them. Enter Ruggiano, a longtime minor leaguer who has some major league experience. Ruggiano hasn't been called up yet but he's enjoying a strong season so far in the minors. He should serve as Miami's fourth or fifth outfield when he gets the call.

What does it give the Houston Astros
The Astros are all about getting younger these days and they 'sold high' here on Ruggiano during his strong start. Morales doesn't appear to be close to majors-ready but he has a solid bat for a catcher prospect and gives Houston more organizational depth behind the plate.
