SOX SWAP RELIEVERS

The Chicago White Sox acquired pitcher David Riske from the Boston Red Sox for pitcher Javier Lopez.

What does it give the Chicago White Sox
The Chicago bullpen has been battered by injuries to some key names that were expected to perform setup roles. Riske gives them a hard-throwing righty for those late innings that is at least healthy right now. However, he did miss the first seven weeks of the season with a lower-back strain.

What does it give the Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox have been lacking a lefty in the bullpen and that's exactly why they made this deal. The 28-year-old Lopez hasn't had a lot of success in the majors, so it's a bit of a gamble considering they gave up a quality righty. But the good news is that he's been lights-out for the White Sox's Triple-A affiliate this year, so perhaps he's found his stride.
