GIANTS TRADE FOR RELIEVER RAMIREZ
The San Francisco Giants acquired pitcher Ramon Ramirez from the Boston Red Sox for pitcher Dan Turpen.
What does it give the San Francisco Giants
The Giants have added both Ramirez and lefty Javier Lopez to bolster their bullpen for the stretch drive. Ramirez will probably pitch in middle relief. He fell out of favor in Beantown, but is a decent arm.
What does it give the Boston Red Sox
Turpen is a relief prospect currently pitching in AA. The Red Sox will probably be patient with him, since they have plenty of arms to replace Ramirez in the meantime. The Red Sox recalled Dustin Richardson, for now.
