ROCKIES ACQUIRE YOUNG INFIELDER

The Colorado Rockies acquired infielder Josh Wilson from the Florida Marlins for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

What does it give the Colorado Rockies
For a while there it looked like Wilson was going into camp as the best bet to start at second for the Marlins. But then they signed Pokey Reese and designated Wilson for assignment. He's got the kind of mildly potent bat that could become more powerful in Colorado and at this point he figures to start out as a utlity infielder with the chance of overtaking Luis Gonzalez at second.

What does it give the Florida Marlins
The Fish had given up on Wilson's potential, so anything they get in return will be fine with them.
