UGGLA TO ATLANTA
The Atlanta Braves acquired second baseman Dan Uggla from the Florida Marlins for infielder Omar Infante and pitcher Mike Dunn.
What does it give the Atlanta Braves
The Braves add a good power bat in Uggla, who is quite unconventional for a second baseman. Uggla should fit somewhere in the middle of the Atlanta batting order. He's already quite familiar with new Braves manager--former Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez. With Uggla on board, contact hitter Martin Prado will now move either to third base or left field.
What does it give the Miami Marlins
The Marlins are currently obsessed with improving their bullpen situation, so they have added yet another arm in Dunn. As for Infante, he had a great 2010 campaign as a top utility man for Atlanta. He could be in the mix to start either at second or third base for the Marlins. Despite that, it would appear that the Fish didn't get enough in return for their starting second baseman.
