VAZQUEZ TO BRAVES

The Atlanta Braves acquired pitchers Javier Vazquez and Boone Logan from the Chicago White Sox for catcher Tyler Flowers, infielder Brent Lillibridge, third baseman Jonathan Gilmore and pitcher Santos Rodriguez.

What does it give the Atlanta Braves
The Braves have landed a new ace for their revamped starting rotation in Vazquez, whose stuff hasn't translated into huge win totals or big-game performances over the years. Still, he's young and healthy, which is something that couldn't be said of last year's veteran quartet of John Smoltz, Tim Hudson, Tom Glavine and Mike Hampton. As for Logan, he should be a situational lefty for Atlanta in 2009.

What does it give the Chicago White Sox
The White Sox picked up a lot of quality prospects in this deal, though only infielder Lillibridge is expected to play with the big club this season. He'll either be a backup or possibly win the starting second-base job. Flowers may be the key to the deal, though he's a few years away from succeeding A.J. Pierzynski behind the plate. Ditto third sacker Gilmore, who may now be the long-term solution at the hot corner. Rodriguez also has promise.
