STEWART TO THE YANKS

The New York Yankees acquired catcher Chris Stewart from the Chicago White Sox for future considerations.

What does it give the New York Yankees
Stewart is not a top-tier prospect but with primary backstop Jorge Posada aging and increasingly injury-prone, they need more depth behind him. They obviously see something in Stewart, 27, who played in their system last year before signing with Chicago.

What does it give the Chicago White Sox
The ChiSox had Stewart around their organization for only a few months and didn't see much of him. Their short-term investment wasn't significant, so getting future considerations in return is a nice bonus for them.
