TORONTO ADDS JACKSON, TEAHEN

The Toronto Blue Jays acquired pitcher Edwin Jackson and infielder/outfielder Mark Teahen from the Chicago White Sox for pitchers Jason Frasor and Zach Stewart.

What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays made this deal with a second trade in mind. They added Teahen as a possible stopgap at either third base or right field, plus Jackson--who was later dealt to the St. Louis Cardinals. The Blue Jays dealt from their strength in pitching to improve their lineup.

What does it give the Chicago White Sox
Stewart should be the key to the deal from a White Sox standpoint. He has some upside and could eventually find his way into the Chicago starting rotation. Frasor will provide bullpen depth. The deal cost Chicago a quality arm in Jackson, albeit an inconsistent one, and the expendable Teahen.
