JACQUE JONES A TIGER

The Detroit Tigers acquired outfielder Jacque Jones from the Chicago Cubs for infielder Omar Infante.

What does it give the Detroit Tigers
The left-handed hitting Jones should platoon in left field with Marcus Thames in Detroit. He'll give the team another lefty bat, which was missing with the departure of first baseman Sean Casey. Jones is used to the American League, after spending most of his career with the Minnesota Twins.

What does it give the Chicago Cubs
Infante adds more versatility and depth all over the field in Chicago. He may be asked to play center field on occasion, as well as back up shortstop Ryan Theriot. The main aspect of this deal from a Cubs standpoint is the dumping of Jones' salary.
