The Florida Marlins acquired outfielder Cody Ross from the Cincinnati Reds for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
What does it give the Florida Marlins
Already joining his third team of the young season (he was traded from the Dodgers a month ago), Ross finally comes to a team that may give him a chance to play. He's a decent prospect who has shown signs of speed and power in the minors. The young Florida outfield has done very little this season, so Ross gives them yet another option.
What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
Ross just wasn't going to get a chance to play with the Reds, so if they can parlay him into something that can give them a little minor-league insurance, that would be just fine.
