D'BACKS ADD DUNN
The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired outfielder Adam Dunn and cash from the Cincinnati Reds for pitcher Dallas Buck and two players to be named later.
What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
Dunn adds a big power bat for the D'backs down the stretch. With Eric Byrnes and Justin Upton currently on the disabled list, Dunn should see plenty of at-bats until the end of the season. A free agent at the end of 2008, Dunn is likely to depart once Arizona finishes playing this year. This move was defintely done for the here and now.
What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
The Reds received decent value for their starting left-fielder, as they begin the process of replenishing their outfield. In Buck, the Reds get a pitching project who has already endured Tommy John surgery. However, the key to the deal for Cincinnati just may be the quality of the two prospects to be named later.
