BRAVES GET BAKER FOR DEPTH

The Atlanta Braves acquired infielder/outfielder Jeff Baker from the Detroit Tigers for a player to be named later.

What does it give the Atlanta Braves
A decent right-handed bat off the bench, and a versatile player. Baker can play first base, third base, second base and the corner outfield positions, so his versatility is key. He's also far more comfortable (and familiar) with the National League, having spent most of his days with the Cubs and Rockies.

What does it give the Detroit Tigers
A fresh start. In Detroit, Baker didn't pan out. So, they've quickly moved on. The Tigers will now give 21-year-old Venezuelan outfielder {P Avisail Garcia} a chance to show what he can do at the big-league level. Don't expect the player to be named later here to make much of an impact.

Fantasy impact
Garcia has some intriguing upside, but he's not likely to see a lot of action in September for the Tigers. As for Baker, he'll mostly come off the bench for the Braves. He may see a reduction in playing time, so his fantasy impact will be negligible.
