A's, PADRES SWAP FOUR

The San Diego Padres acquired pitcher Tyson Ross and first baseman A.J. Kirby-Jones from the Oakland Athletics for infielder Andy Parrino and pitcher Andrew Werner.

What does it give the San Diego Padres
In Ross, the Padres add a decent arm with the versatility to either start or relieve. He'll probably get a shot at earning the No. 5 starter job in spring training. Otherwise, he'll be a serviceable long or middle reliever for San Diego. Kirby-Jones is a young right-handed bat who may emerge eventually as a platoon candidate at first base. He'll likely start 2013 in Double-A ball.

What does it give the Oakland Athletics
Parrino should provide solid work in a utility infielder capacity for Oakland in 2013. He can play shortstop, which is a position of need for the Athletics at present time. That said, he is not expected to vie for an everyday role in Oakland. As for Werner, he's a soft-tossing left-hander with a chance at earning the No. 5 starter job in spring training. He may do well in Oakland.

Fantasy impact
There won't be much fantasy impact to come out of this deal. Both Ross and Werner may do better in their new homes mainly due to a change of scenery for both. Parrino could get more opportunities in Oakland, especially if they are unable to bring in more shortstop help (which is unlikely). Kirby-Jones has a bit of sleeper appeal for down the road, but he's still a long shot.
