ROCKIES GET WHEELER FROM ARIZONA

The Colorado Rockies acquired infielder Ryan Wheeler from the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitcher Matt Reynolds.

What does it give the Colorado Rockies
The Rockies could use Wheeler at the hot corner in 2013, as he'll have to fight for at-bats with the likes of {P Chris Nelson}, {P Jordan Pacheco} and prospect {P Nolan Arenado}. Wheeler spent a lot of time late in 2012 as the Diamondbacks' third baseman, so he has a little upside.

What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
Reynolds is a decent left-handed reliever, which the Diamondbacks need. Therefore, they decided to acquire him for Wheeler (who would have been a candidate to play third base in 2013). This leaves {P Chris Johnson} as the incumbent at the hot corner in Arizona, though the club may seek outside help as well.

Fantasy impact
Wheeler has a little better opportunity playing half the time at Coors Field, though he must win the third base job first and foremost. Reynolds will continue to be a lefty specialist, so his fantasy impact will continue to be minimal.
