A'S ADD ROSARIO FOR BULLPEN DEPTH

The Oakland Athletics acquired pitcher Sandy Rosario from the Boston Red Sox for a player to be named later.

What does it give the Oakland Athletics
Oakland usually gets good mileage out of fringe bullpen talent, so there's a good chance Rosario will succeed in his new digs. The A's didn't surrender much in this deal for a player with a little big-league experience (as well as a little upside). He'll compete for a roster spot in spring training.

What does it give the Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox claimed Rosario off waivers from Miami earlier this off-season, but they clearly felt the 27-year-old right-hander didn't have enough potential to keep on the 40-man roster. Therefore, they made some room by sending him to Oakland for either cash or another fringe prospect.

Fantasy impact
History suggests Rosario may work his way into a decent fantasy situation with the A's, who often make changes to their late-inning relief lineup over the course of a season. Therefore, Rosario has a little fantasy sleeper appeal (though he's still clearly a longshot, at best).
