DIAMONDBACKS ADD SPEEDY CAMPANA

The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired outfielder Tony Campana from the Chicago Cubs for pitchers Jesus Castillo and Erick Leal.

What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
Campana should assume the role of No. 5 outfielder in Arizona, behind {P Jason Kubel}-{P Adam Eaton}-{P Cody Ross} and fourth outfielder {P Gerardo Parra}. He'll be a defensive replacement and pinch-runner mostly, though he may also act as insurance in center field in case rookie Eaton struggles in his first big-league campaign.

What does it give the Chicago Cubs
The Cubs landed a pair of teenagers in this transaction, though neither Leal nor Castillo figure into the team's big-league plans for quite some time. Still, Campana was a spare part who was recently designated for assignment by Chicago. So, GM Jed Hoyer did well to land a pair of long-range pitching prospects for the future here.

Fantasy impact
Campana will continue to be a source for stolen bases, no matter where he plays. However, that's the extent of his fantasy value, since he simply won't get enough playing time to be a major factor. Both Castillo and Leal have long-range keeper appeal, but neither is anywhere close to being ready for the bigs.
