RAYS GET GELTZ FOR DE LA ROSA

The Tampa Bay Rays acquired pitcher Steve Geltz from the Los Angeles Angels for pitcher Dane De La Rosa.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays could get great mileage out of Geltz, a diminutive 25-year-old right-hander who appeared in two big-league games last season. He is adept at striking batters out, so he has decent upside as a reliever. If he is able to reach the big leagues again, manager Joe Maddon and pitching coach Jim Hicke could do wonders for Geltz.

What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
De La Rosa is older than Geltz and has a tad more experience at the big-league level, and he's also significantly bigger. Like Geltz, he too is a strikeout artist (at least in the minor leagues). A California native, he has a chance to reach Los Angeles this season as a depth reliever. It would be surprising if he made an impact, though.

Fantasy impact
Both Geltz and De La Rosa have super-sleeper appeal as fantasy relievers, mainly due to their ability to strike batters out. However, both have a bit of work to do just to get back to the bigs.
