MARINERS ACQUIRE RIGHTY HARANG

The Seattle Mariners acquired pitcher Aaron Harang from the Colorado Rockies for pitcher Steven Hensley.

What does it give the Seattle Mariners
The Mariners have had issues with their rotation in the early going, so the hope is Harang can bring a little stability there. He's not as good as he used to be but still capable of registering quality innings. He's also an accomplished strikeout pitcher when he's at his best but is starting to get up there in age (34). He will likely replace either {P Brandon Maurer} or {P Blake Beavan} in the rotation.

What does it give the Colorado Rockies
The Rockies recently acquired Harang from the Dodgers for veteran catcher {P Ramon Hernandez}, but immediately designated him for assignment. They had no intention of keeping Harang, but managed to save $2.5 million by turning Hernandez into Hensley by way of Harang. The 26-year-old Hensley is an average reliever of modest potental. He merely adds a little depth for the Rockies.

Fantasy impact
Harang's fortunes may be better in Seattle than they would have been had he remained in Colorado, and should at least be better than had he stayed with the Dodgers (since he was moved out of the LA rotation). Still, temper expectations here since Seattle's new ball-park dimensions are causing havoc with pitchers in the early going.
