RAYS ADD RELIEVER BELIVEAU

The Tampa Bay Rays acquired pitcher Jeff Beliveau from the Texas Rangers for cash.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
Beliveau is a lefty reliever who saw a bit of big-league action last season with the Chicago Cubs. He'll probably report to Triple-A Durham but may find his way back to the big leagues. The Rays get a lot of mileage out of their bullpen so he may shine if promoted.

What does it give the Texas Rangers
The Rangers already have three left-handed relievers with the big-league squad, so Beliveau was clearly deemed expendable at this time. Therefore, they moved him out and received some cash in return. This deal works for both organizations.

Fantasy impact
Beliveau won't get save opportunities if recalled to the big leagues, but he might become a valuable situational lefty for Tampa Bay at some point. Either way, his fantasy value will ne negligible.
