RAYS ACQUIRE VETERAN OF DeJESUS

The Tampa Bay Rays acquired outfielder David DeJesus from the Washington Nationals for a player to be named later (Matthew Spann - September 19 2013) or cash considerations.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
Tampa Bay lands a veteran outfielder with plenty of experience and great versatility (DeJesus can play all three outfield positions, and bat pretty much anywhere in the order). He's expected to serve as the Rays' fourth outfielder down the stretch, but could end up seeing a lot of playing time in left field (a revolving door in Tampa Bay for much of 2013).

What does it give the Washington Nationals
The Nationals just recently acquired DeJesus from the Cubs, so they were clearly only trading for him in order to ship him off to a contending team before the end of the month of August. They aren't likely to land much of a prospect (or a lot of cash) in exchange for DeJesus, so it begs the question: why did Washington even bother to acquire him?

Fantasy impact
The arrival of DeJesus could cut into the playing time of the likes of {P Matt Joyce}, {P Kelly Johnson} and perhaps even center-fielder {P Desmond Jennings} with the Rays. Rookie {P Wil Myers} is not expected to be affected by his arrival, though. For the Nats, it's the status quo (since DeJesus wasn't there long enough to change anything).
