BOSTON ADDS DEPTH WITH IF McDONALD

The Boston Red Sox acquired infielder John McDonald from the Philadelphia Phillies for pitcher Nefi Ogando.

What does it give the Boston Red Sox
McDonald will add a little infield depth for the Red Sox down the stretch. Adding him prior to September also makes McDonald eligible for the postseason, and the BoSox may decide to use him over rookie {R Xander Bogaerts} in the playoffs.

What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
Ogando is a 24-year-old right-hander who has been a full-time reliever the last two seasons--including 2013. He doesn't have a lot of upside but the Phillies did well to get something for a veteran backup infielder near the end of the line (McDonald).

Fantasy impact
McDonald doesn't own any fantasy value, while Ogando is a bit of a long shot to become fantasty-relevant down the road.
